Hello there, my name is Andre Sibomana, and I serve with Canadian Baptist ministries as the Africa Team Leader. My responsibilities include providing a continental strategic direction in the area of joint ministries between CBM and the local church partners and maintaining the relationships and partnerships between CBM and denominational leaders.
I am Gato Corneil Munyamasoko and I serve as CBM’s Africa Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Specialist working in Rwanda, Congo, and South Sudan among CBM’s partners. I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for your continuous prayer and faithful support of CBM. Please pray for the participants of our peacebuilding programs. May they actively seek peace and reconciliation as they interact with their neighbours and communities. Pray for the pastors and district leaders as they lead peacebuilding activities. Pray that God will continue to give our partners in various African countries strength and inspiration as they continue to serve in the midst of violence, poverty, and conflicts between neighbouring countries in the great lakes regions.
After Covid-19 regulations were alleviated, I have been able to visit all partners since the beginning of this year. Visit to ACC&S in Kenya I visited Kenya in March to take part in the ACC&S peer capacity assessment. On the same occasion, CBM signed a new partnership agreement with ACC&S. On the same occasion, together with John Chan and Laura Muema, I attended the meeting of one of the VSLAs in the framework of the food security project. The project reaches out to school pupils to train them on CA as a way to reach also their parents, most of whom live on farming Visit to AEBR in Rwanda I took part in the research evaluation, which was organized jointly by AEBR and PDN, both partners of CFGB I also visited some farmers and appreciated the ownership of kitchen gardens. Visit to FEBAC in South Sudan The third visit took me to South Sudan, where I accompanied the implementation of two activities. First, I took part in the situation analysis for the new food security project in South Sudan implemented by FEBAC. Afterwards, I conducted a two days training workshop on leadership, resource mobilization and management for 39 pastors and leaders of FEBAC, after which the church held its second general assembly, during which they renewed their leadership. Rev. Saphano was re-elected as Church Moderator.
Hello friends, I am Polisi Kivava Baudouin. I am based in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where I serve as National Field Staff. In my role, I am in charge of relief and development work among CBM’s partners in Africa.
It is now one year and eleven months since I was sent by CBM to work with a new partner in Congo which is called “Baptist Churches Community in Eastern Congo”. This denomination had been split in two since 1997 until 2018 due to ethnic conflict where one group was called the majority and the second group the minority.
Dear God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, we praise you for your unlimited love for us. It is because of that love that you created us in your image, the image of love. Our prayer is that we may learn to love one another as you love us.
Father in Heaven, I come before you in humility and in praise for you answer our prayers. Dear God , We ask you for your wisdom as we work with partners in the field. O God, I ask you to bless the work of peacebuilding and reconciliation in Congo so that people who are following teachings on different modules on peacebuilding will truly become catalysts of peace in the DRC. I pray this ministry will continue to gain more supporters so that we could reach many people in conflict. We want to help more people to engage in reconciliation and peacebuilding in their areas of conflict to reduce violence. I am also praying for the whole CBM organisation as it continues to bring hope to this broken world. May you continue to give more wisdom, strength and willingness to its leaders. May you continue to also bless CBM’s partners and supporters in ministry so that the organisation will continue to have means for supporting vulnerable people around the world. Heavenly Father, I pray also for my family, so that they will continue to be engaged in their faith. May you also guide them and help them in finishing their studies. I am praying also for my daughter who was newly wed – that their marriage will be for your glory. Thank you for hearing our prayer and for responding to our needs beyond our expectations. We pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
On Saturday 22 May 2021, the Nyiragongo Volcano, about 15 km North of Goma erupted and destroyed more than 200 houses, occasioning the death of 35 people, some caught by the lava, others in accidents and even some more by gas from the lava trying to cross. The eruption was followed by violent tremors of earthquakes, which damaged a lot of buildings.
