Transformed by His Grace
|
August looked like lots of preparations, girls small group, Young Adult camp, VBS, and more…
|
The girls small group continued this month at IB Emaus. I have really loved to see these relationships develop. I have also loved seeing 3 of the girls who attend the small group starting to attend the church as well. We are hoping to do one more gathering before taking a pause until the beginning of November.
Be praying for these girls, but also be praying that there would be a couple of guy leaders who would feel called to step up and lead a small group for the boys at the same time. On August 22 – 24, JUBAREDO held its second annual young adults camp. This year our theme was “Transformed by His Grace” and we had 83 people participate! We also had the privilege to have a number of having different guest to be preaching and to be giving the workshops during the weekend which were very well received. This is always a highlight for many and I hope that the friendships made and the lessons learned will continue to make an impact in their lives. With everything that has been happening this summer, between kids camp and young adults camp, it was great to make time to get together with some of the young adults from IB Emaus. For our monthly gathering, we went to the local park to share food, a devotional, walk around, and just spend time together. At the end of the month, IB Emaus held a 3 evening VBS program. We had an average of 40 kids each day from ages 3 to 16. We were learning about what it means to be a disciple, that we are chosen, trained, and sent! I had the privileged to give the Bible lessons during the 3 days. It was great to see the excitement to be at the church, to see all the volunteers working so well together, and then to see some of the kids come back on Sunday for the service. I pray that we will be able to reach more kids and that the church continues to be a safe and hope-filled place for them to come. |
In last months update, I wrote about IBAREDO’s annual summer camp. If you’d like to know more, here is a impact video with some stories about the impact camping ministry is having here in the DR. If you click on the photo it should send you to the video. If not, here is the URL you can copy and paste to watch it. 🙂
Prayer Requests
The academic reinforcement programs are starting back up in the 6 different IBAREDO churches. Be praying for the students and teachers.
– Be praying for the youth and young adults who attended the young adult camp. Pray that what they learned and heard will be put into action in their lives.
– Be praying for the upcoming Latin American Team Retreat. Pray that it will be a good time of connecting as a team.
– Be praying for the Latin American Leadership Exchange that will be taking place in Guatemala at the end of the month. Individuals from all of our partners in Latin America are gathering together for a few days to learn, share, and form relationships.
– Be praying for the new JUBAREDO youth board. With the recent election at our young adult camp, a new board has formed. Be praying as we meet together this month and as we look ahead to serving together for the next 2 years.
– Pray for the local pastors and leaders in the churches are they continue to serve. Pray that God would give them wisdom, strength, joy and hope.
