Visit To Kenya

Each year, in partnership with Atlantic Baptist Women, CBM creates mission moments and teaching resources for Canadian Baptist summer camps to teach kids about global missions.

This year, the Camp Curriculum materials are focused on our Kids at Risk programming in Kenya, which supports vulnerable kids with school fees, mentorship, and livelihood training for their families. This work is possible because of our partnership with Africa Christian Church & Schools (ACC&S).

CBM staff member Evangeline Hammond recently visited Kenya to gather stories for this year’s resources. This is what she said about her experience:

Each day I visited a new child in their home, accompanied by local church leaders and John Kamoni, Livelihoods Officer at ACC&S. I got to witness a typical ‘day in the life’ for the student: how they get ready for the day, what they have for breakfast, how they get to school, what an average day at school looks like, and what their parents do for work. As anyone who has visited Kenya will tell you, Kenyans love to laugh! I was deeply touched by their kindness and felt instantly comfortable. It was a further joy to see John and the church elders interact with the families we visited. They clearly have close relationships and care deeply about the people they serve. If we were learning how the mothers pick tea leaves in the fields, John was right there, basket slung over his shoulder, working beside them. It was a beautiful picture of what partnership means.

Whether as part of your summer camp ministry or church day camps, keep an eye out for the 2026 Camp Curriculum, launching on CBM’s website in May!
