Suraj Komaravalli, June 2026
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from Asia.
It is a joy to serve with CBM across Asia, where God continues to open doors for gospel witness, leadership development, and holistic ministry. Thank you for your faithful prayers. I invite you to read this brief update and pray for the ministries, churches, and communities we have the privilege of serving together.
Strengthening the Church in Odisha, India
On February 15, 2026, I preached at the 76th Annual Conference of the Soura Baptist Christian Mandali Sammilani (SBCMS) at Radesal Church in the Sunkurdi area, where more than 100,000 believers gathered for worship, fellowship, and the proclamation of God’s Word. On March 1, I also had the opportunity to preach at the 101st Annual Convention of the Utkal Baptist Churches Association (UBCA) at Tabarda Baptist Church, attended by over 40,000 people. These gatherings reflected the vitality of the Church in Odisha and provided opportunities to encourage pastors and congregations to remain faithful in their witness, deepen their commitment to Christ’s mission, and strengthen partnerships in gospel ministry.

From April 6–11, I visited Nagaland to meet leaders of ongoing ministries and explore opportunities with potential partners. It was inspiring to see Christ-centered skills training programs equipping people with practical livelihood opportunities while affirming their God-given dignity and bringing renewed hope. Beyond vocational training, many participants are gaining confidence, strengthening relationships, and growing in their understanding of God’s love. I have great hope that these transformed lives will become a testimony to their communities and that CBM’s partnerships will continue to foster sustainable, Christ-centered ministry across the region.

On April 18, I attended and spoke at the memorial service for Rev. Dr. David Hayward, whose faithful ministry, together with his wife Ruby, left a legacy among the Soura Baptist churches in Odisha. The service was a moving reminder that God faithfully works through generations of His people to build His Church. Later that day, I visited 50 girls at the Kui Girls Hostel in R. Udayagiri. Coming from some of the most economically disadvantaged communities in Odisha, these girls are receiving education, vocational training, and the opportunity to build a more hopeful future. We praise God for ministries that restore dignity, strengthen families, and demonstrate Christ’s compassion in practical ways.

From May 22 to June 15, I visited Canada to participate in the CBM Team Leaders’ Meeting and share updates on CBM’s ministry in Asia while preaching and speaking at FBC Dunnville, Women’s gathering at Omemee Baptist Church, Grace Chinese Gospel Church, North Burlington Baptist Church, Agincourt Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Brampton, and the CBOQ Assembly in St. Catharines. This visit highlighted the importance of partnership between Canadian churches and local churches across Asia. It was a blessing to share stories of lives being transformed through Christ, emerging ministry opportunities, and the faithful witness of our partners. In return, I was greatly encouraged by the prayers, generosity, and commitment of Canadian churches. Together, we continue to proclaim the gospel, equip the Church, and demonstrate Christ’s love through holistic ministry across Asia.
