The Soucys joined CBM in July 2006, arriving in Rwanda in September to support CBM activities with the Association of Baptists Churches in Rwanda (AEBR), largely in community development programs including Food Security, Literacy, HIV/AIDS support, Orphan Programs, Pastors Livelihoods and Integral Mission training, Short Term Missions… They supported a team of 7 Rwandan staff, including 2 National Staff –Gato Munyamasoko and Andre Sibomana to manage all the CBM funded programs as well as other partner’s programming.
Kathleen supported Andre in the development of STM programs and Global Discipleship by intentionally engaging Canadian churches in CBM/AEBR programming, pastor’s workshops, literacy and bible study training, professional development for teachers. She also mentored the Literacy program manager and staff in other programs.
Bruno supported Gato and the other staff in financial and program management. He also took on Financial and Operations responsibility for Kenya and DRC, supporting program staff and partners to enhance stewardship and financial processes.
Both Kathleen and Bruno studied agriculture at the University of Guelph. Kathleen’s further studies were in Counselling. Prior to CBM, she worked in Pregnancy Recourse Centres in Ontario, Regina and Moncton and as an area manager for the Canadian Cancer Society in NB. Bruno studied business and worked in several roles in Agricultural Credit in Ontario, Regina SK and Atlantic Canada. Both Bruno and Kathleen were part of the first African cohort of the Diploma in Integral Mission offered jointly by Carey Theological College and CBM.
Bruno and Kathleen have three children (and four grandchildren): Caroline married to Jonathan Selig, lives in Texas with Maren (5) and Nate (3) where Caroline will complete her midwifery studies in September 2014. Laura is married to Jonathan Vokey and living in Kingston ON with Madeleine (4) and Nathaniel (2). Benjamin is a second year student at St. Lawrence College in Kingston ON.
Bruno & Kathleen are members of The Journey Church (formerly Allison Church) in Moncton NB.
In October 2013, after 7 years in Rwanda, Bruno and Kathleen accepted new roles as CBM Latin America Team Leaders. Additionally Kathleen will work to enhance Global Discipleship, STM opportunities and Canadian Church Engagement, in Central and South America. The Soucys are in Costa Rica studying Spanish and expect to fully engage with Latin America staff and partners in their new leadership roles by fall 2014.
